Report Assist (Beta Version)

The Lineos Report Assist feature enables users to generate dashboards and visualizations by describing their requirements in natural language. It automatically creates professional dashboard with appropriate charts, layouts, and data connections, eliminating the need for manual dashboard design. The AI interprets user requests and produces data-driven outputs that can be iteratively refined through continued conversation.

Note: Report Assist is available only for users with Admin License (BV30 users) who can create or update Dashboard.

Prerequisites

Before using Report Assist, ensure:

  • The administrator has enabled AI Assist for the organization

  • The user has an Admin License (must be a BV30 user)

  • AI Assist is enabled in the user's personal settings

  • Connection to the Bizview platform is established

  • Access to required data sources is available

Using Report Assist in Dashboards

To use Report Assist in Dashboards:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard module.

  2. Click the Lineos icon and navigate to the Report Assist tab.

  3. In the chat window, type your prompt to describe the visualization or dashboard you need.

    For example:

Create a sales dashboard called 'Q3-Sales-Performance-AI-REPORT-CHARTS-Sample' showing:

    - Monthly revenue as a bar chart using Sales_Amount field

    - Top 10 products by revenue as a horizontal bar chart

    - Sales by region as a pie chart

    - Use the 'DV03M 'dataview

    - iFrame with url 'https://platform-dev.bizview365.net/en/gridform/GR04' and title as 'sales Orders'

  4. Press Enter to submit your request.

Report Assist analyzes the available data and creates the requested visualization.

  5. The new visualization is automatically added to your dashboard.

To modify the visualization, continue typing instructions in the Report Assist panel.

You can also provide prompts to change colors, legends, or data presentation.

Note: If the dashboard is open in Edit mode when updating through Report Assist, you must reload the page to view the latest changes.

Supported Chart Types

Report Assist supports the following visualization types in dashboards:

  • Chart (bar, column, line)

  • Pie chart

  • Linear gauge

  • Circular gauge

  • Grid

  • Slicer

  • Card

  • iFrame

Writing Effective Prompts

Use this prompt structure for best results:

Action + Name + Content + Data Source + Styling

Example:

"Create Sales-Dashboard-Oct2025 showing revenue trends and top products from Sales_Data with bright colors"

Sample Prompts (Recommended)

Example 1: Sales Performance Dashboard:

Create a sales dashboard called 'Q3-Sales-Performance-AI-REPORT-CHARTS-Sample' showing:

- Monthly revenue as a bar chart using Sales_Amount field

- Top 10 products by revenue as a horizontal bar chart

- Sales by region as a pie chart

- Use the 'DV03M 'dataview

- iFrame with url 'https://platform-dev.bizview365.net/en/gridform/GR04' and title as 'sales Orders'

The process of using this prompt in Report Assist is demonstrated below:

Example 2: Financial Overview:

Build a Financial Planning dashboard named 'Financial Planning AI report assist-Sample' using DV01M dataview

- Revenue trend line per month using series VersionID for AccountGroup = 3010 and 3 Account types

- Bar chart for top 10 spend items with AccountGroup as Argument and serie as VersionID with setting Rotated ON

- Total costs for costcenter with argument as Cost Center Descr and serie as Version ID

- Data table with columns Version, Account Type, Account Group, Account, Amount

- Slicer with Cost Center

The process of using this prompt in Report Assist is demonstrated below:

Good Prompts (Can Be Improved)

The following table illustrates prompts that work but could be more specific for optimal results:

Current Prompt

Improved Version

"Create a dashboard with sales data"

"Create a sales dashboard with monthly revenue trends and top products"

"Show me customer information"

"Create a customer dashboard showing customer count by region and satisfaction scores"

Poor Prompts (Avoid)

These prompts lack specificity and will likely fail or produce unclear results:

Poor Prompt

Why It Fails

"Make something with data"

Too vague - no specific visualization or data source

"Show everything from the database"

Too broad - cannot display entire database

"Create multiple dashboards"

Limitation - Report Assist creates one dashboard at a time

Essential Keywords

Report Assist recognizes specific keywords to interpret requests accurately:

  • Actions: Use Create, Build, Generate, Make, Show, or Display to initiate dashboard creation.

  • Aggregations: Specify sum, average, count, or total to define how data should be calculated.

  • Colors: Choose from Default, Soft Pastel, Ocean, Vintage, Bright, or Harmony Light themes.

  • Layouts: Arrange dashboards using grid, columns, rows, full width, or split view options.

  • Sizes: Set element dimensions as small, medium, large, compact, or expanded.

Best Practices

  • Use unique dashboard names with hyphens (example: "Q3-Performance-Dashboard")

  • Specify exact dataviews or table names in requests

  • Define field roles clearly (category vs values)

  • Include aggregation methods for numeric fields

  • Verify correct spelling and capitalization of field names

Synchronizing Data with Report Assist

When new data views or data tables are added to the system, they need to be synchronized with Report Assist before they can be used for dashboard creation. This synchronization ensures that Report Assist has access to the latest data structures for generating visualizations.

Note: The Synchronize Data feature is available exclusively to users with System Admin privileges (BV30 role).

To synchronize data:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Appearance > Lineos.

  2. In the User Settings tab, under Lineos > Report Assist, select Synchronize Data to initiate the synchronization process.

Note: This feature is available exclusively to users with System Admin privileges (BV30 role).

  3. Wait for the confirmation message:

    • Success: "Data is successfully synchronized with Report assist service"

    • Failure: "Data synchronization failed". Contact support if synchronization fails.

If the synchronization is successful, newly added data views and tables become immediately available for creating dashboards through Report Assist. This ensures that users can leverage the most current data structures when generating visualizations with natural language requests.
